Who are we and what do we do?

WU Chessclub is the official Chessclub of Vienna University of Economics and Business. Together, we built this community to promote Chess in Vienna, and host a variety of different chess events for students and chess enthusiasts of all levels.

Clubevenings and courses

Once a week we host a clubevening where we have an experienced player or master give a lecture about openings, tactics and endgames. No matter your level you will learn something here and play some open games afterwards.

Monthly competitions and FIDE Rated Tournaments

At least once a month we organize a tournament (even FIDE Rated) where you can prove your skills and get an official FIDE Rating. All strength levels from first tournament ever to Grandmaster are represented and prizes are there to win for all categories.

Simultan Exhibitions and special courses

Every now and then we invite a Grandmaster to our campus so you can play against him in a Simultan Exhibition. GMs Blohberger, Dragnev and European Champion GM Alexey Sarana have visited us. Who’s gonna be our next guest?
